Pictures coming soon….
Do you know where your Community Orchard Garden is located? It is the top allotment garden.
When did the orchard garden start?
In 2014 following a suggestion in the community survey that some fruit trees were planted to benefit everyone in the community.
A group of enthusiastic residents decided it would be good to compliment the trees with an organic garden that attracted wildlife and gave everyone a place to come and sit, potter, experiment and learn about the wonders of gardening.
At the moment we have big plans but slow progress as we need to dig over the whole site before laying wheelchair accessible paths and whilst we have the rent and insurance paid by the OCA we are fundraising to try and get the materials for the paths.
You will see we have a raised bed established and the following pictures will show the initial plans a member of the group has drawn to help us prioritise.
You will see from the following photos the progress we are making.
This is a garden where you do not need skills just enthusiasm, we share our knowledge, and last year our first crop of apples were shared and some of the children helped make Apple Crumble which they enjoyed with ice cream or custard. Great fun was had by all
We always welcome help, and currently anyone who can strim, cut grass, hand weed or with muscle to dig are particularly welcome. To find out more contact Sue 745388
